Source hierarchy
Where available, contemporary government records, census material, gazetteers, archives and original publications are preferred. Later scholarly interpretation and community tradition are kept distinguishable.
Claim status
Evidence may be classified as documented, scholarly interpretation, community tradition, disputed or unverified. A classification does not automatically turn a claim into fact.
Human review
AI and automation may assist research, but historical material is not published without editorial review.
